Krujë is the heroic hometown of Albania's greatest national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, who successfully resisted Ottoman invasions for 25 years in the 15th century. This spectacular mountainous town, perched 600 meters above sea level, features a magnificent medieval castle housing the Skanderbeg Museum, a traditional Ottoman bazaar where authentic Albanian crafts are still made by hand.
